440+ Strange (Marijuana) Nick-Names the DEA Uses for Weed

(HUGE) List of DEA Nicknames for marijuana

DEA Calls Weed What?!

Ganja, Kush, Mexican Green, Mota, Cat Nip – the list goes on and on. But what are we really talking about? Throughout the years, the DEA (Drug Enforcement Agency) has collected a list of what they believe are the most common street names for marijuana. Some of them, frankly, are quite entertaining. We all could probably come up with a list of ten or more varying names for marijuana, but the DEA did a whole lot better than that, compiling a massive list of nicknames. How many have you heard of? While many of them are simply the names of different strains, which are always fun! The following is the official list of marijuana code names put out by the DEA.

Which ones are your favorites? Some of them are pretty crazy! Let's go over some of our top choices from this incredibly diverse and numerous list!

Top Ten Names for “Weed”

1.Red Cross: Not exactly what one probably thinks of when they hear “The Red Cross” and yet apparently this one is becoming an ever more common name. It is possibly in reference to the “green cross” found on so many dispensary shops.

2. Mowing the Lawn: Taking down the green! This one is more fun, and we wonder how such a name came about!

3. Gorilla: So strong it packs the punch of a gorilla? Perhaps? Must be one hell of a strain to have earned this nick name!

4. Northern Lights: Ahh, the majestic Aurora Borealis, a stunning, glimmering show of lights that can only be seen from certain northern areas of the world, and now is a nickname for cannabis.

5. Burritos Verdes: From any research that we conducted, we only gained a few good spicy burrito recipes, so your guess is as good as ours.

6. Zambi: Either a zombie deer, (seriously, look it up) or just another exotic name for Cannabis, we cant be sure. As one goes through the list, there are many surprises that one will find!

7. Hairy Ones: This one makes a little more sense, as some of the flower can have very “hairy” appearance when looked at closely. “Hairier” bud tends to mean some better!

8. Chernobyl: Not sure where this one came from, but it sure sounds like…a bomb strain! This one has got to have a strong kick!

9. Jungle Juice: Its green, its exotic, and sometimes its juicy!

10. Bambalachacha: Fun one. Google search returns nada…we wonder where the DEA heard this one!

The DEA sure must have worked hard to come up with such a comprehensive list of names and terms! We wonder what they will come up with next!
